Hello and welcome. My name is Shannon. I am a wife, a mother to two little boys, a homemaker, a gardener, a beginning crafter, a cook, a nourishing foods enthusiast and a lover of all things natural. I love chocolate and coffee. I am also a follower of Jesus Christ and while the focus of this blog is not on theology, He is the foundation of all that I do.
I believe that the concepts of both nourishing and natural are in themselves a form of simplicity. I am in the process of simplifying my life, day by day. Come join me as I figure out what that means.
Topics of Interest
I don’t consider myself an expert on anything, so I am always exploring. I write about what I love and what I learn, such as:
- Minimizing “stuff”, having only what you need.
- Natural methods for homemaking & parenting.
- Nourishing, traditional, real foods.
- Local, organic foods.
- Gardening & preserving.
- Home management & Organization.
- No-debt finances.
I hope that you are blessed by what you read here. Thank you for stopping by!

Just found your blog through Mommy Stays Home. I will be back. I really like what you are doing. We are in tons of debt too for various reasons. We get a small food stamp stipend each month, and we go to a local food bank twice a month. But the bulk of our food comes from our local CSA. Local, organic food. We can and freeze a lot in the late summer and have that all winter. I highly recommend CSA’s. That may be an option for you and your family.
Look forward to reading more of your blog.

Noelle,
I love CSAs! We had one two summers ago and I loved it! I didn’t do one this past summer because of being pregnant and not signing up soon enough, but I am definitely looking into this for this coming season. We are also greatly increasing the size of our garden, so that should help.
Thank you for visiting and commenting!

I found you through the frugal granola blog. We have a lot in common (Jesus, WAPF, minimalism, gardening, greening, etc.) and am looking forward to your posts. My blog is mostly about kid-updating for grandparents, but every once in a while I post about one of my many interests. Too bad we don’t live closer to each other!
Blessings!
